Le Chéile AC Committee update for club members 14th May

As many people will have seen, yesterday Athletics Ireland announced that clubs can return to limited activity from Monday 18th May. They also provided protocol documents about how this return will need to be managed and approached by club members. We thank Athletics Ireland for all the work compiling the associated documentation.

Whilst it is great news that we will be able to reopen our track soon in some capacity, it is important that club members realise it still will not mean a return to regular group training yet. Government guidelines allow only groups of 4 to meet through this phase, which of course will severely limit how the track can be used. Furthermore access for younger members is still not allowed. For older members and coaches, request for use of the track will need to be booked in advance and individuals will only be allowed to attend the track at the timeslot confirmed by the club.

We are a club run by a limited number of volunteers. We now need to appoint a Safety Officer who will have a number of responsibilities regarding managing this return to activity. So we ask that you give your full support to that person over the period ahead.

The committee are meeting over the coming days to make that appointment, determine the specifics of the return and also the booking system to be used. Further details will be announced over the weekend when decided upon. In the meantime we ask for your patience and that you please familiarise yourself with the protocol documentation published on the Athletics Ireland website: https://www.athleticsireland.ie/news/coronavirus-covid-19-update/?fbclid=IwAR0UDQ9k_r2gvSfUyO_sMHK69_K8HfxqoqYGpb78-uHi_BvOyggbehkXJY4
