Le Chéile members big part of Athletics Leinster Ireland team for CSIT games

Le Chéile AC is delighted that our club members are now in Torsosa, Spain for the CSIT World games, 2nd -7th July 2019.  Athletics Leinster selected Ciaran Connolly and Caoimhe Cronin to compete and Lisa Dixon as a team manager to represent Ireland at the games. The CSIT Games occur every 2 years with more than 40 countries competing, in a number of different sports, including Athletics. The games are seen as transition to senior competition for promising young athletes.

Ciaran Connolly 18yrs has just completed his leaving certificate in Coláiste Chiáran Leixlip. In his last competition for his school he jumped a new pb of 2.07m in High Jump. He is currently the top junior High Jumper in Ireland.  He has won numerous All Ireland Titles, along with Provincial & County titles.  Ciaran has previously represented Ireland in the Celtic International & SIAB Schools International. Ciaran will compete in the High Jump and the 400m hurdles at the CSIT games.

Caoimhe Cronin 16yrs is a transition year student in Coláiste Cois Life, Lucan.  Caoimhe has won numbers All Ireland titles, indoor & outdoor along with Provincial & county titles in sprints.  She has a PB of 56.91 in the 400m and she also competes in the 200m setting a new pb when she won the Leinster championship in June. Over the same weekend Caoimhe set a new Leinster championship record in the 400m.  Caoimhe has represented Ireland in the Celtic International and the SIAB Schools international. Caoimhe is a member of the 4 x 400m National Junior U20 relay squad, she is the youngest of this team. Caoimhe will compete in the 400m and 200m in the CSIT games.

Lisa Dixon is coach to both Ciaran and Caoimhe. She has coached several other athletes to county, provincial and national titles. As well as coaching many young and senior athletes she is also busy in the role of Secretary of Le Chéile AC. Her success has been rewarded when she was appointed as lead coach / team manager along with Fintan Reilly of Dunleer AC for the CSIT games.

Le Chéile AC wants to express our support and acknowledge all the hard work and dedication carried out on a weekly basis by all three that has led to this selection. The very best of luck at the games!
