National Indoor League – Round 1

The Le Chéile Track & Field squads had their first competition of 2015 in Round 1 of the National Indoor League in Athlone on Sunday 11th.   The Men’s A team finished the day in 7th place overall after some great performances.  Thomas Connolly went over 6m for the first time in the Long Jump, David McCarthy narrowly missed out on a PB in the 60m Hurdles and Conall Hayes won his heat in the 800m.  Adrian Phelan made his Le Chéile debut in the 60m and Shot Putt.  

The Women’s team finished 8th overall on the day.   The performance of the day came from Ruth Larragy, who improved on her PB to win the Pole Vault competition with a height of 2.90m.   Ruth also took points in the 60m Hurdles, despite having to run her race twice.   There were also good performances by Martina in the 60m, Lisa in the Shot Putt and Sinead in the 800m and Long Jump. 

The Men’s B team also went well, with Des Walsh competing in the Pole Vault and 800m, Maebly Ryan in the 60m, Richard McCarthy in the Shot Putt and Kevin Roche in the 60m Hurdles and Long Jump.
