Corona Virus update 25th March – track closed for all forms of training
To all members,
In his speech yesterday evening An Taoiseach outlined that all clubs are to close as part of measures to curb the spread of the corona virus. In follow on from that Athletics Ireland released a statement outlining that no clubs can operate in any capacity through these times. Their statement also outlined that no insurance covers of Athletics Ireland for Provinces, County Boards, Clubs and individuals are operational during this period.
Unfortunately, as a result of this, our track is now closed for all forms of training, including for individual use, until further notice.
We had hoped to keep the track available for use for individual adults to gain access with their cards. Particularly given An Taoiseach’s statement specifically mentions allowing people leave home in order to exercise. However, in follow on from the Athletics Ireland interpretation and clarification provided about Insurance cover, we have no other option but to fully close the track now. A lock will be placed on the gate today.
Please find safe alternative locations to run and exercise, and keep the required distance away from others, through these difficult and unprecedented times.
Best regards
Brendan Kearney,
Chairperson,
on behalf of Le Chéile AC committee.
