Leinster Junior/Senior/Masters Indoor Championships 2015
The Track & Field group sent a strong team down to the Leinster Indoor Championships in the Athlone International Arena on Feb 15th and brought back an impressive haul of ten medals, five of them gold, aswell as a number of PBs. Highlights of the day included Ruth Larragy taking gold in the senior women’s Pole Vault, clearing 3 meters for the first time with a PB of 3.10, Sinead Leavy bringing home two medals, a silver in the senior women’s 800m and a bronze in the 1500m and Conall Hayes making the step up to Senior to compete in the 800m and taking the bronze medal, missing out on the silver by just one one-hundredth of a second.
In the men’s master competition, Des Walsh jumped a new PB on 9.22 to win the M45 Triple Jump competition and also won a bronze in the Long Jump. Kevin Roche won the M35 Long Jump and took first place in the High Jump and 60m Hurdles, improving his PB for the event to 10.9s.
There were many PBs aswell including Simon Murphy in the Senior 200m, Thomas Connolly in the Junior Long Jump &Ciaran Treacy in the Senior 400m. There were also a good performance from Adrian Phelan in the 60m
